We supported a multinational steel-making company in creating the leading manufacturing analytics-enabled steel plants in the world and built digital and advanced analytics capabilities and change management at great scale. Our jointly developed initiatives covered all digital levers such as advanced analytics, automation, and process digitization across all main functions, which range from production and maintenance to marketing, procurement, and sales. Our support yielded an impact of over $50 million annual in earnings before interest, taxes, and amortizations (EBITDA) run-rate uplift—a 2 percent EBITDA uplift.
Building digital and advanced analytics capabilities for an aluminum processing company
We assisted a leading aluminum-processing company with production assets across four continents in successfully delivering more than 20 use cases in production and supply chain, building digital and advanced analytics capabilities at scale across regions. Our support delivered over $40 million in annual impact within 24 months.
Shape strategies with respect to future sustainability challenges
We have helped build strategies for a more sustainable future in metal industries that experience increased pressure to lower their CO2 footprint. Five-year-plan strategy for a steel company
We helped an Asian private-steel company to develop its 14th five-year-plan strategy. We assessed key future trends in the steel industry overall and the client’s market position as well as regulatory support and value chain opportunities. Recommendations were made along three vectors to gain competitiveness, including scaling up via M&A within the local province and formulating a product development and R&D capability roadmap to enter specific niche markets and extend the value chain.
